When we need saving most
How do our heroes rescue us?

Jesus had a bucket of apples
Which he multiplied and divided
Like third grade math.

Ninjas implement
More ostentatious magic
Like oil slicks or fading into the night.

Faulkner writes sentences
Readers could stand on
To unwrap our insecurities.

Eleven old men
Conspire to raise a nation
With the power of their feet.

But what about
Daily plugging the holes
Keeping the dam solid
Saving the city of our psyches
Constantly, consistently.
