Our palms wouldn’t have
Clasped together;
Our lips
Never met.

You could have gone off to Europe
On a submarine.
I could’ve eaten like a miller
And still felt hollow.

It took active vision
To see the flash that sparked our love.

Put Aunt Cloe in the psychic ward
And she’ll tell you about infinity.
I have 31 centsto hoard
Will she call me miserly?

I got a scoop on Sandra tonight.
Maybe I’ll swoop in, too:
Catch a flight on the cape wind
And whisper stories that are new.
I could tell her about an ark - an aardvark on the sea -
It all might work
If she hadn’t always been a wildcat to me.

To my Monday.
I’m still inventing
The prototype of happiness,
But I always come up
With some
Lame gizmodo; imperfect conditions.
Perhaps Mondays should lean
Toward international news,
As long as there’s universal coverage
I’ll support
Brazilian prescriptions of sex.
